The increase is in line with Agenda for Change increase for 2023-24, announced earlier this year, but this does not take into account where different terms and conditions may apply.
Commenting on the announcement, Philip Coghill. RCN Scotland Pay, Terms and Conditions Lead, said:
“The RCN has argued for pay parity with Agenda for Change rates for practice-employed nursing staff so this announcement is a step in the right direction. More work needs to be done in the future to achieve full pay parity. GP nursing staff play an essential role in delivering NHS services, but many of them still aren’t receiving the fair pay they deserve.
“We would expect that all general practice employers who receive the money from the Scottish government will implement the increase as soon as is reasonably possible.
“Practice-employed nursing staff should check with their employer when they will get the increase. We have created a template letter to send to your employer if you do not get a satisfactory response. We also want to hear from RCN members who don’t receive the increase and backdated pay."
