Pay increase for 2023-24 for general practice nursing staff
Nurses employed directly by general practices should receive a 6.5% pay increase for 2023-24. The award is backdated to 1 April 2023 and to be applied from 1 October.
The increase is in line with the Agenda for Change increase for 2023-24.
The Scottish government has provided funding through the new General Medical Services contract for practices to pass on to staff.
If you are employed by a general practice and do not receive the increase in reasonable time, you should make an informal enquiry to your employer to find out when you will be receiving the increase and backdated pay.
If you do not get a satisfactory response, you might want to personalise our template letter to raise the issue more formally.

RCN Scotland has indicated a willingness to work with stakeholders to ensure that the primary care workforce is recognised and rewarded appropriately.
