All eligible RCN Wales members will receive an email today (24 April) asking them to accept or reject the offer. Voting is now open until 9am on Wednesday 10 May.
The RCN Wales Board is not making a recommendation on how members should vote in this ballot – members must consider their own personal circumstances and how the offer will affect them specifically to decide whether this offer is acceptable to aid in the current cost of living crisis.
The offer includes a new recovery payment for 2022/23, which was achieved on the back of a previous clear rejection from members, and also a consolidated rise for 2023/24.

Helen Whyley, Director RCN Wales said: “Thank you to all members in Wales who have been engaged and stepped up to deliver the Fair Pay for Nursing campaign so far. It is your passion and determined strength to take strike action and not back down on any offer that does not truly value nursing, which has made the Welsh government get back around the negotiating table.
“Strike action is always a last resort; it is the ultimate tool to resolve a dispute and one you didn’t enter lightly. We will all remember the two days of strike action in December last year, two long, cold, but groundbreaking, days where we stood shoulder to shoulder on the picket lines, speaking up about the importance of fair pay for our profession and for the safety of our patients.
“For the first time the Welsh government has added to a pay review body recommendation, a historic moment that we must not underestimate the significance of. This revised offer may not be everything you wanted to see. Whatever your decision this is not the end of the discussion or the campaign for Fair Pay for Nursing.
“I urge all eligible members to read the consultation document in full to enable you to make an informed decision on the next steps we take as a college.”
How to cast your vote
To make sure you can cast your vote online, check that you are able to log in to MyRCN and that your details are up to date. It is essential that your employer and all other details are correct for your vote to be counted.
Members can vote online at www.rcn.org.uk/walesconsultation. To vote, you will need to log in using your details. Members eligible to vote were also notified the ballot had opened by email.
Your vote will not be counted if you submit your response after 9am on the 10 May. If you vote more than once only your latest vote will be counted.
