Booking is now open for RCN Congress 2024. This year's in-person event will take place from 2 to 6 June at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Wales in Newport and is free for members to attend. Don’t miss out, book your place today.
Congress provides a unique opportunity for delegates to debate key issues around nursing practice that shape the RCN’s future work. Attendees will have their say on several important and diverse issues.
Agenda items include decriminalising abortion across the UK, supporting the principles of assisted dying and recognising the value of and the evolution of artificial intelligence in health care.
Also up for debate are a number of issues concerning regulating the nursing support workforce, more support for nursing staff who raise concerns and improving access to controlled drugs in care homes.
As always, there will be space on the programme for emergency agenda items, which can be submitted right up until Congress finishes on 6 June, via various RCN forums and committees, and RCN Council. Find out what makes a good emergency agenda item.
In addition to the debates, from 3 to 6 June, there will be lots of learning, wellbeing, social and networking events.
Chair of RCN Congress BJ Waltho said: “I’m looking forward to heading to Wales for this year’s Congress.
“The agenda is packed with interesting and provocative issues, and I’m hoping this will result in lively professional debates that reflect the views of RCN members and result in meaningful and positive change.
“Of course, we still have room for emergency agenda items too, which are so important as the profession is changing at such a speed – the emergency items allow us to capture those current issues.
"Come along to ensure you’re part of these debates as we make vital decisions about how we campaign on issues central to the future of nursing and patient care. You can make a meaningful difference.”
Don’t forget that Congress is also a fantastic opportunity to meet and network with your peers, and the learning and wellbeing programme supports your CPD and can be used towards revalidation.
Congress is open to all RCN members to learn, develop and share best practice, and to influence nursing and health care policy.
