The extended deadline will give RCN branches, forums, UK representative committees and country/regional boards some additional time to put forward their submissions for this year’s RCN Congress agenda.
Agenda submissions can only be made by the entities listed above and RCN Council, but all members are encouraged to suggest items for debate and link in with their branch, forum or representative committee to progress their ideas.
Previous agenda items have included debates on ethical overseas recruitment, safe staffing, nursing leadership and supernumerary status for students. Debates can lead to new RCN guidance or revised best practice – some can even bring a change in the law to better support nursing staff.
RCN Congress will be held at the Brighton Centre from 14 to 18 May. The five-day annual nursing event and exhibition is open to all RCN members to learn, develop and share best practice, and to influence nursing and health care policy. It’s an opportunity to set the focus and direction of the RCN for the year ahead. Visit the Congress website to find out more.
Members are also being encouraged to contact their RCN forum, board, branch, network, group, or local office if they wish to suggest an event as part of the Learning and Wellbeing Programme (LWP) at Congress. These applications close at 5pm on Monday 9 January.
