Commenting Theresa Fyffe, Director RCN Scotland, said:
“Nursing is an exciting and rewarding career choice. It is heartening to see that such significant numbers of nursing students will be joining the profession this year. It is essential that those who choose nursing receive the support they need to complete their degree and that this continues once they join the workforce. The profession needs urgent investment in both staffing and pay, to ensure patient safety and the health and wellbeing of nursing staff.”
Note
This is not the final figure of those accepted to start university nursing courses this autumn. Acceptance numbers will rise as more students’ places are confirmed via Clearing. Also for those studying qualifications where results are not published today (rest of UK, EU) next Thursday 13 August will also then begin to confirm small numbers of students from other countries coming to study in Scotland.
Figures at 4 August:
- Scotland: 3040 placed applicants from Scotland in university nursing courses (an increase of 320 or 11.6% since 2019 results day).
