In response to receiving the award, she said:
“I would like to say I am humbled and honoured to have received my RCN Award of Merit. It is amazing to have been personally recognised but I am part of a team both at University Hospitals Plymouth and the RCN South West Region members and staff. Without their support and partnership working my role would be so much harder. I look forward to continuing in my roles to supporting our members.”
Immediately after receiving the award she tweeted in response:
"Very humbled to have been nominated and receive RCN Award of Merit tonight. Thank you to all @RCNSouthWest @RCNPlymouth @UHP_NHS @theRCN for all your support to enable me to fulfil my rep duties."
The Award of Merit is the highest honour bestowed to RCN members for outstanding voluntary service to the RCN itself. Four members of the RCN are required to nominate their peers for these awards, which recognise a member’s significant contribution to the work of the College.
