RCN Guernsey members reject pay offer

In a ballot, 92% of members voted to reject the offer and 90% said they would be prepared to undertake Industrial Action.

Kenny Lloyd, RCN Convenor said: “This result isn’t a surprise, we have been telling P&R for months what the members would say. The ‘improved’ offer that followed a brief arbitration session proved to be even more divisive with members calling it ‘unfair’ and ‘insulting’. So we have done what the States demanded we do, balloted the members to get a result we always predicted.

“Next week we have a meeting with our members to see if they wish to start the RCN’s Industrial Action application to RCN Council. If this is agreed, then RCN Council will consider the application at their meeting at the end of November.

“Striking isn’t something we would consider lightly, but by continually ignoring us the States have left us with no option.”

Turnout – 59%
Accept – 8%
Reject – 92%

Of those who rejected, 90% said they would support industrial action.
