The College is supporting Care Home Open Day 2019 on Friday 28 June, an initiative to connect care homes, their residents and staff with the wider community.
This year’s theme is Celebrating Arts in Care, and visitors can experience a range of creative activities while enjoying the company of residents, their families and nurses and care assistants.
Eileen McKenna, Associate Nurse Director, RCN Scotland will be visiting two care homes in Dundee on Friday to share resources, meet residents and thank staff. She said:
“Over 30,000 RCN members work in care homes across the UK. Care home staff are highly skilled and trained to make sure they give the best care and meet the individual needs of residents.
“This open day is a great opportunity to challenge some of the misconceptions around care homes. It’s a chance for local communities to get involved and to find out how nursing staff in care homes use their skills and experience to promote the health and wellbeing of residents.
"As we live longer lives, with more complex needs, the contribution of nursing staff is more important than ever and the RCN is proud to support this open day.”
