RCN South Cluster joint EDI event: Unlocking neurodiversity: workplace support and union advocacy

Join this event exploring how the RCN supports neurodiverse members across the workplace. Featuring expert speakers and practical guidance, insights into workplace adjustments, peer networks, and national resources, it will help strengthen your understanding and ability to confidently support neurodiverse colleagues.
The talks will focus on the lived experiences of those with neurodiverse conditions such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia.
This event will present the array of support available and explore how and when it is appropriate to seek union support.
All nursing staff are welcome to attend and get involved - including non-members, so invite your friends and colleagues to join you online. Here is a poster to help spread the word.
Programme
The programme will include:
- lived experience – embedding neurodiversity-informed care: what works and why it matters: A practical exploration of equity, culture change, and neurodiversity informed care in the NHS - Jill Corbyn, Neurodiverse Connection.
- several movement, hydration and sensory reset sensory breaks
- women's experiences- lived experience and leadership: navigating neurodiversity in public life: insights from an autistic parliamentarian on workplace barriers and change – Cat Eccles, MP for Stourbridge (elected 2024).
- RCN union workplace support - supporting neurodiverse members in the workplace: practical tools, advice, and using Health and Ability Passports effectively – Holly Chadd, RCN Disability Officer
- RCN Disability Forum - RCN member forums: community, lived experience, and peer support: Connecting members and sharing real stories of navigating neurodiversity at work – such as dyspraxia, dyscalculia and dyslexia – speakers tbc.
