First strike dates announced by Royal College of Nursing after UK government declines NHS pay negotiations
RCN General Secretary and Chief Executive, Pat Cullen, said: "Ministers have had more than two weeks since we confirmed that our members felt such injustice that they would strike for the first time. My offer of formal negotiations was declined and instead ministers have chosen strike action. They have the power and the means to stop this by opening serious talks that address our dispute".

Responding to the latest NHS England urgent and emergency care daily situation reports, RCN Director for England, Patricia Marquis, said: “These figures highlight the severe strain the health secretary himself recently admitted that the healthcare system is under. It doesn’t bode well when adult bed occupancy in hospitals is already at 95%, well above the recommended safe level."
