The festive season is a time to reflect and celebrate the year of care we have supplied in the previous twelve months. As a bespoke home care provider, we offer the highest standard of complex and nursing care to support people in their own homes, both adults and children.
As healthcare professionals, including all of our colleagues who work in the care sector, we get up every morning to aspire to be the best we can be and to give our clients the support and dignity that we believe they deserve. This includes 24/7 care – nights, weekends, and unsocial hours – so why is Christmas different?
Christmas is celebrated by people all around the world for different reasons, be it traditional, religious, or something else. For many of us, Christmas is a time for families and friends to come together. It not only brings about a sense of community, but it is also a time to share and reflect on kindness and selflessness, tolerance, and acceptance, as it is the true meaning of celebrations such as Diwali, Ramadan and many others.
These times bring a spirit of connection, and we are proud to be able to support our service users in spending such a special time at home with their loved ones if they wish to do so. In our Paediatric Manager’s words: “These children have often been through so much and so adding magic to their Christmas is a big drive!” I am sure most of our colleagues in the care sector can relate to this. We will be ringing every client on Christmas day to wish them a happy and peaceful Christmas and delivering gifts to our service users.
Being part of the community is important to us. We are donating gifts to children’s charities and hosting a fundraising raffle. We are also working with a charity to supply meals to homeless people.
And let’s not forget the wonderful staff who will be working during the festive period. While we know that this comes as part of the profession, it can be challenging and this can take many forms, such as staffing issues, transport issues, and not being around family and friends. We arrange our staffing to ensure that no long-distance travel is involved and all staff receive cards and gifts.
We wish everyone a merry festive season and a happy New Year!
