Understanding Aseptic Technique
Publication Code : 010 725A summary of RCN evidence generation in 2022 using qualitative interviews with nurses. The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) has undertaken a programme of work in response to members’ concerns about the conduct of aseptic technique. This report adds to the profession’s education journey to enhance nursing practice founded on enquiry and the generation of evidence to inform practice. This report will be of interest to nursing staff or midwives involved in aseptic technique guideline development or education of this core practical skill.

A Case Management Tool for TB Prevention, Care and Control in the UK

It aims to promote standardisation of protocols and procedures, ensure accountability for delivery and establish clear performance measures through cohort review. The tool is consistent with existing guidance for professionals working in the field of TB in the UK which provide a sound framework for clinical management and commissioning. This updated guidance replaces 006 194.

This, combined with a lack of investment in inpatient services, has contributed to inequalities within mental health service provision. This paper presents a range of recommendations for the Welsh government to improve mental health service provision through investment in education, improved career pathways, workforce planning, and more.

Education and Career Progression Framework for Fertility Nursing Consensus Statement
Publication Code : 010 729In 2021, the RCN Fertility Nursing Forum carried out an impact assessment on the RCN’s Education and Career Progression Framework for Fertility Nursing to establish its use and effectiveness and subsequently produced the Impact Assessment of the Education and Career Progression Framework for Fertility Nursing (009 927). To address the recommendations from the impact assessment, work was undertaken with key stakeholders in 2022 to discuss how the recommendations could be implemented more widely. This consensus statement aims to clarify the way forward.

Professional nurse advocate standards for education and training programmes and modules
Publication Code : 010 854There has been extensive national uptake by education institutions and employer organisations to support, develop and implement the role of the professional nurse advocate (PNA). However, with various providers delivering PNA training, there are notable variances in the delivery and learner experiences. To address this challenge, NHS England commissioned the Royal College of Nursing to work with stakeholders to create standards for PNA education and programme delivery. These standards offer education institutions a universal framework to align their programmes towards, and to establish enhanced levels of quality assurance.
