The NHS Mandate
A key part of the NHS reforms is the formation of NHS England to provide leadership of the NHS in England and commission some services. The work of the NHS England is governed by a formal Mandate from the Secretary of State for Health, which delegates responsibility and sets objectives for the period April 2013 to March 2015. This briefing provides an explanation of what the Mandate is, a summary of the objectives contained in it, and the RCN's position.

RCN position statement Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership
The RCN has developed a position statement on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) treaty currently being negotiated between the EU and the US, calling for health services to be removed from any agreement. It calls for greater transparency, a cast-iron guarantee that health services will be exempted and the removal of the investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) mechanism from the agreement.
