POLICY: Scottish Government’s consultation on a new Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy

RCN Scotland’s response to the Scottish Government’s consultation on a new Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy.

We comment on the various proposals concerning definitions of mental health, outcomes for individuals and services, the vision for mental health, areas of focus, our members’ current experience of nursing, support for nursing in mental health, community mental health nursing, CAMHS and equalities. We provide an especially detailed consideration of outcomes for the workforce, who should be included in the definition of the mental health workforce, solutions to our current and future workforce challenges, and immediate action that should be taken by Scottish Government.
