CONSULTATION RESPONSE: Changing How Health Care Education is Funded
01 July 2016
The RCN has responded to the Department of Health's consultation on changing how health care education is funded. The consultation outlines proposals to scrap the NHS bursary for nursing and allied health professional students and implement tuition fees and student loans. This change will result in debts of up to £59,000 per graduate. In this response the RCN outlines its opposition to this “high risk” proposal and calls on government to suspend the proposals immediately until a suitable model of funding can be found.
