Pat Cullen elected to European Federation of Nurses Executive Committee
RCN General Secretary and Chief Executive, Pat Cullen, has been elected to the EFN’s executive committee. This committee is responsible for setting strategic directions and providing leadership to the federation.
The EFN represents more than one million nurses and over 36 national nursing associations across Europe. As one of the nine founding members back in 1971, the RCN has a long history of collaboration with the federation.
The results of the election were announced on 21 April 2022 at the EFN’s General Assembly, a meeting of all member organisations. At the meeting members discussed a range of issues including; the implementation of the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Global Strategic Directions for Nursing and Midwifery; the role of Advanced Practice Nurses in Europe; and the EFN’s work to support Ukrainian nurses.

In the face of unprecedented global challenges for our profession, international partnerships and collaboration have never been more important.
I will continue to work with the EFN to advocate for policies that matter most to our members - tackling the workforce crisis and ensuring fair pay for all nursing staff.
