RCN in Wales Nurse of the Year Alumni
The Royal College of Nursing in Wales Nurse of the Year Alumni Network was officially launched at the Nurse of the Year 2017 award ceremony.
The Alumni Network is made up of RCN Wales Nurse of the Year winners and runners up. There are approximately 280 Alumni Network members.
All members of the Alumni Network have gained national recognition for outstanding professional achievements and leadership.
Purpose of the Alumni Network
The purpose of the network is to create a body of nursing innovation and excellence, enabling members to share and support each other by pooling their expertise and knowledge. This will be achieved through the development of a closed Discussion Forum on Facebook that only RCN Alumni Network members can join. This Facebook page can be used by members to discuss professional issues and seek advice and guidance from fellow members.
Members of the network will be able to gain access to RCN Wales career development opportunities.
Alumni network members will receive invitations to a number of RCN events and development opportunities. These vary each year but may include events such as:
- RCN Wales Leadership Summit
- RCN Wales Health Care Support Worker Conference
- RCN Wales Research Chair Biennial Lecture
- RCN Wales Betsi Cadwaladr Biennial Lecture
Alumni members are invited to attend these events free of charge, and may also be approached to deliver presentations to share their expertise and experiences with other nurses.
Fireside Chats
RCN Wales hold fireside chats for Alumni members on Leadership Development. These are small informal events that provide an opportunity to hear from a guest speaker about their leadership journey, and a chance to network with other Alumni members and RCN Wales staff.
