Referencing tools and training

We offer RCN members support with the use of two referencing tools, ZoteroBib and Zotero. 

Find out which one of them is right for you, and how to get started with the tool of your choice.

ZoteroBib: easy referencing tool

ZoteroBib is a free, easy to use, online tool that you can use to create a reference list from thousands of citation styles. It is suitable for everyday use for assignments or reports. There is nothing to download and you can start using it straightaway.

Zotero: advanced reference management software 

Zotero is a free, open source, reference management programme that you can use to collect, organise and cite research. We recommend it for managing references over a long period of time. Zotero can be downloaded to your computer or laptop.

Training sessions

Learn how to use ZoteroBib or Zotero. These individual sessions are delivered via Zoom and available to RCN members only.
Please note we cannot check your references in these sessions.

Writing for a publication

RCN referencing guidelines provide guidance about the RCN citation style, which you should use if you are writing an RCN publication. ZoteroBib and Zotero can be used to create references in this style. You should always use the referencing guidelines of the organisation you are writing for.
