Accommodation FAQs

You can book your Congress 2024 accommodation via our hotel booking site here.

  • Celtic Manor Resort Hotel and the Manor House Hotel are on the same site as the ICC Wales. 
  • Holiday Inn is a 10-minute walk. 
  • Ty Hotel Newport is a 14-minute walk. 
  • Coldra Court Hotel is a 20-minute walk. 
  • Ty Hotel Magor and Ibis Budget are an 11-minute drive. 
  • Mercure and Travelodge are a 12-minute drive. 
  • Holiday Inn Express is a 14-minute drive. 
  • Parkway Hotel and Cwrt Bleddyn are a 15-minute drive.

Newport Transport will provide shuttle services throughout Congress that will link the ICC Wales with the voting member hotels, the ICC Wales and the social event venues. Please see the 'shuttle bus FAQs' section below for further information on the shuttles.

Breakfast is included at all the hotels although the Ibis Budget and Travelodge are unable to provide a hot breakfast option. We are currently looking into hot breakfast options with the ICC Wales. Further details will follow. 

The Ibis Budget hotel request that the time of your breakfast sitting is confirmed in advance due to the small dining space available at the hotel. 

The RCN have pre-paid for breakfast boxes for those guests who will be staying at the Travelodge. The ‘breakfast to go’ box includes cornflakes, orange juice, a pain au chocolat and an oaty flapjack snack.

If you do need to drive to ICC Wales we would recommend car-pooling.  

However, we strongly suggest using public transport and the shuttle services provided.

Please check with your individual hotel regarding parking options and costs.

There are 700 visitor parking spaces in the underground car park at the ICC Wales.

There are no facilities to order evening meals at the Travelodge or Ibis Budget however takeaways can be ordered for delivery to the hotel via services such as Just Eat/Uber Eats/Deliveroo.

Shuttle bus FAQs

The shuttle buses will cover those hotels listed below, and link in with Newport train station and the ICC Wales.

Celtic Manor Resort Hotel and the Manor House Hotel are situated on the same site as the ICC Wales so shuttles will not be required to cover these hotels.

  • Sunday 12 noon - 9pm

  • Thursday 8am - 5pm 

Please note that Cwrt Bleddyn will have its own dedicated shuttle service. Service times for this will be confirmed separately.

The shuttles will run every 15-30 minutes on the main loop, dependent on the time of travel. Please check the timetable once it is available. 

Please note the scheduling is dependent on traffic.

Yes, there will be no charge to use these services.

Yes, non-voting members can use the shuttles but please note that the coaches cannot make unauthorised detours or stop at other hotels or locations.

The shuttles can accommodate wheelchairs and pushchairs. However please note that these shuttles are coaches, not buses. 

Wheelchair users would need to inform the RCN in advance where they are staying so that we can advise the transport company to ensure an appropriate vehicle is allocated to your journey.  Please inform the Events Registrations Team via congress.bookings@rcn.org.uk in advance, or notify staff at the Registration Desk during Congress. 

Alternatively, wheelchairs and pushchairs can be collapsed and stowed.

Yes, all coaches have luggage space.  

Please note that on Thursday 6 June you will need to take your luggage with you to the ICC Wales as the shuttles will not be looping back to the hotels once Congress has finished. Luggage storage will be provided at the venue.

Newport Transport is providing 4 electric coaches. They were the first transport company in Wales to operate a fleet of electric buses.

  • Stops: Picking up at Newport train station, then going to Parkway, Ibis Budget, Holiday Inn Express, Ty Magor, Ty Newport, Coldra Court, Holiday Inn, ICC Wales (for Celtic Manor and Manor House. Full circular route takes 1 hour.
  • Schedule:
    • Sunday 2nd June: 12pm, 12.30pm, 1pm, 1.30pm, 2pm, 2.30pm, 3pm, 3.30pm, 4pm

Route 2

  • Stops: Picking up Parkway, then going to Ibis Budget, Holiday Inn Express, Newport train station (for Mercure and Travelodge), Ty Magor, Ty Newport, Coldra Court, Holiday Inn, ICC Wales (for Celtic Manor and Manor House)
  • Schedule:
    • Sunday 2nd June: 4pm - 7pm (every 15 minutes)
    • Monday 3rd June: 7am - 10am (every 15 minutes), 10am - 4pm (hourly)

Congress 2024 takes place at the International Convention Centre Wales, better known as the ICC.

The nearest train station to the ICC is Newport in south Wales.  

If you’re travelling with First Great Western from London Paddington to Newport, you can claim a discount on your journey. Visit the ICC website to learn more.

From Newport station, you’ll need to take a 15-minute taxi to the venue, which costs approximately £12 (more information is available in the 'Need a taxi?' section).

The ICC is conveniently located just off the M4, next to the Celtic Manor Resort, as you head into Wales.  

We would strongly recommend car-pooling as there are no direct transport links. There are also no shops or restaurants nearby.   

There are 700 visitor parking spaces in the underground car park at the ICC. You can access the main foyer of the venue directly from the car park. Additional car parking can be found at the Catsash car park on site.  

Free electric vehicle charging points are available on site. 

The venue is offering discounted parking at £6 per day, which you can pay for in advance online.  

If you don’t pay in advance, the following charges will apply:

ICC underground car park 

  • 0 - 1 hour – £2 
  • 1 - 3 hours – £4
  • 3 - 5 hours – £8
  • 5 - 8 hours – £13

Catsash car park

  • 0 - 3 hours – Free
  • 3 - 5 hours – £3
  • 5 - 8 hours – £4
  • 8 - 12 hours – £8.50

National Express offer direct routes to Newport from central London, Birmingham, Bristol, and Gatwick, Heathrow and Bristol airports. The coach stop is in the city centre, outside the Riverfront Theatre. You’ll need to take a train one stop to Newport, which takes roughly 13 minutes. You’ll then need to take a 15-minute taxi to the venue (more information is available in the 'Need a taxi?' section).

See all National Express routes

Aer Lingus, Eastern Airways, Easyjet, Flybe, Logan Air and Ryanair all fly to Cardiff or Bristol. Both airports are a 40-minute drive to the venue.  

Alternatively, from Bristol airport, take the bus to Bristol Temple Meads – roughly a 50-minute journey. Then take the train to Newport, which takes about 32 minutes. Finally, you’ll need to take a 15-minute taxi (more information is available in the 'Need a taxi?' section).

If you’re arriving at Cardiff Airport, take the train for 34 minutes to Cardiff Central. From there, take the train to Newport, which takes about 13 minutes. From Newport, you’ll need to take a 15-minute taxi.

The ICC’s main taxi provider, Dragon Taxis, quote a cost of around £12 from Newport train station as of September 2023. They have an easy-to-use app that allows you to book and pay with card or Apple Pay. Alternatively, give them a call on 01633 216 216.
